Sabrina Panaitescu-Rapan
Registered Psychotherapist, Qualifying
What challenge do you aim to address?
Challenge: Some clients may be hesitant about counselling, yet desire support, validation, and guidance on their path forward or in understanding their emotions.
Approach: I employ a personalized, cognitive, and adaptable solution-focused method tailored to each client’s unique circumstances, concerns, and objectives. We collaborate as a team, recognizing that you are the expert on yourself, while I provide the necessary tools and resources to jointly develop solutions and enhance your self-understanding.
Objective: My goal is to foster a secure, inviting, and relaxed atmosphere where clients feel supported, valued, and heard. I prioritize the therapeutic relationship and the client’s ultimate counselling goals.
Background: Sabrina is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) pursuing a Master’s degree in Counselling Therapy at Yorkville University. For the past three years, she has served as an intake counselor at Homewood Health Centre, assisting individuals seeking counselling support. Homewood Health offers both long-term counselling for various concerns (e.g., anxiety, coaching, family issues, addictions) and immediate crisis support.
Client Base: Couples, individuals, and teenagers
Therapeutic Approaches: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Gestalt Therapy
Areas of Focus: Anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, family conflict, relationship issues, behavioural problems, interpersonal relationships, burnout, infidelity, eating disorders, life transitions, loneliness, self-esteem, social skills, job dissatisfaction/motivation, physical/sexual assault, anger, alcohol abuse, harassment/bullying, suicide, and PTSD.
Philosophy: Two key principles guide my practice:
- Vulnerability is a sign of strength, not weakness, demonstrated by seeking support during difficult times.
- Failure is not defeat, but an opportunity for growth and learning. The only true failure is giving up on self-improvement.
In counselling, we view clients not as failures, but as individuals seeking assistance to overcome challenges. By combining the client’s self-knowledge with the therapist’s expertise in tools and interventions, we collaboratively find balance and direction to achieve goals and understand emotions.
“Out of our vulnerability will come true strength”- Sigmud Freud
“A failure is not always a mistake; it may simply be the best one can do under the circumstances. The real mistake is to stop trying” – B. F. Skinner
