The missed deadlines, the half-finished projects, the feeling of trying twice as hard for half the result. ADHD is not laziness and it is not a flaw. It is a different kind of wiring, and therapy helps you work with it, not against it.

ADHD affects executive function: the brain skills for starting tasks, managing time, staying organized, and regulating attention and emotion. So the things that look easy for others, like just getting started or remembering the thing, can take enormous effort. That is not a character defect. It is how your brain is built.
A quick, important note: Registered Psychotherapists do not diagnose ADHD, which is done by a physician or psychologist. What therapy does is help you manage ADHD and its impact, the procrastination, overwhelm, emotional ups and downs, and the years of feeling behind. If you would like a formal assessment, we can point you toward the right professional.
Working with a therapist, you build systems that actually fit your brain, ease the shame that so often comes with ADHD, and learn to use your strengths. Diagnosed or self-identified, you are welcome here.
ADHD therapy is practical, compassionate support that helps you build strategies for focus, time and organization, manage the emotional side of ADHD, and rebuild self-esteem, so daily life works more with your brain than against it. It does not replace medical assessment or medication, and works well alongside them.
ADHD is not fixed by trying harder. It eases when you externalize what the brain will not hold and shrink the first step. This is a taste of the strategy work you would build in sessions. Pick a moment that sounds familiar.
“I just cannot make myself start this. I will do it later, when I feel ready.”
Task paralysis, not laziness.
For an ADHD brain, starting is the hardest part. Waiting to feel ready rarely works, because motivation tends to arrive after you begin, not before.
Shrink the task until it feels almost silly: open the document, write one sentence, set a 5-minute timer. You are only committing to the first tiny step.
“Starting small tricks the brain past the wall. Once I am moving, momentum carries me further than I expected.”
In sessions you build a toolkit like this around your own life and goals. Try it with a therapist, free for 20 minutes.
Medication can quiet the noise, but it does not build the systems or undo the shame. That is where therapy comes in.
Supporting a child or teen with ADHD? We offer child and youth therapy too.
Booking, remembering the appointment, actually showing up, we know that is a lot with ADHD. Here is how those 55 minutes tend to go.
No judgment about what has or has not gotten done. Your therapist welcomes you, explains confidentiality, and lets you set the pace.
Together you look at where things get stuck, what drains you, what already works, and which parts you most want to change.
Using a real example from your week, you try a practical tool together, the same kind as the demo above, that fits your actual life.
You agree on what you are working toward and one small, ADHD-friendly thing to try before next week.
There is no single script for ADHD. Your therapist draws on approaches that fit how your brain works and tailors them to you.

Registered Psychotherapists do not provide formal ADHD diagnoses, which are done by a physician or psychologist. What we do is help you manage ADHD and its impact: focus and organization strategies, emotional regulation, and self-esteem. If you would like a formal assessment, we can point you toward the right professional.
Medication is one option that some people find helpful, but it is prescribed by a physician, not by us. Therapy works well on its own or alongside medication, building practical strategies and addressing the emotional toll ADHD can take. We are glad to coordinate with your doctor.
A lot. Therapy helps with the parts of ADHD that medication does not touch: building systems that fit your brain, easing procrastination and overwhelm, managing emotional ups and downs, repairing self-esteem after years of feeling behind, and improving relationships and work.
It varies with your goals. Some people come for focused, practical strategy work over a few months, while others stay longer for the emotional side. You and your therapist review progress together and adjust as you go.

That is very common, and we work with the whole picture. ADHD often travels with anxiety, low mood or low self-esteem, and your therapist tailors the approach so these are addressed together rather than in isolation.
