Mental Health Support Built for Thornhill
Thornhill is a community of contrasts. Along the Yonge Street corridor and Bathurst Street area, you'll find families who have been here for decades, alongside newcomers building their lives. There's a significant Orthodox and Russian-Jewish population, as well as thriving Chinese, Korean, and Iranian communities, all bringing their own values, traditions, and ways of approaching life.
This diversity is one of Thornhill's greatest strengths, and it also brings unique pressures. Many residents juggle balancing cultural expectations with Canadian life. Many commute daily to Toronto for work, leaving little time for appointments after already-long days. Parents at home managing children and household responsibilities face their own isolation. And with York Region's public mental health waitlists stretching many months, finding timely support can feel impossible.
Online therapy removes these barriers. Sessions happen from home, at times that fit your life, without adding another commute or errand to your day.
Whether you're managing work stress from a GO Transit commute, navigating cultural identity, working through grief, or simply feeling like something needs to shift, therapy becomes accessible in a way it hasn't been before.
Therapy Services Available to Thornhill
Whether you're coming alone, with a partner, or looking for support for your child, our team is equipped to help.
Individual Therapy
Whether you're managing the stress of a daily GO Transit commute to downtown Toronto, working through grief, or navigating a life change, individual therapy gives you a dedicated space to focus on what matters most. Sessions are built around your goals and adjusted as your needs evolve.
Couples Therapy
Relationships take work, especially when daily life pulls you in different directions. Our therapists use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Imago Relational Therapy to help Thornhill couples rebuild communication, restore trust, and reconnect on a deeper level.
Family Therapy
Thornhill families often span multiple generations and cultural backgrounds. Family therapy creates a space where parents and children can work through conflict, navigate cultural expectations, and strengthen their connection, whether the challenge is a teenager pulling away or a major family transition.
Child & Youth Therapy
From school pressures at Thornhill Secondary to social challenges and emotional regulation, young people face a lot. Our therapists use age-appropriate methods, including play therapy adapted for video sessions, to help children (ages 3+) and teens build resilience and process difficult emotions.
EMDR & Trauma Therapy
Trauma doesn't always look dramatic. It can be the cumulative weight of difficult experiences that quietly shapes how you move through the world. EMDR therapy helps you process painful memories in a structured, safe environment so they lose their grip on your daily life.
ADHD Therapy
Living with ADHD means your brain works differently, not worse. Our therapists help adults and youth in Thornhill develop practical strategies for focus, time management, and emotional regulation that honour how you're wired, rather than forcing you into a one-size-fits-all approach.
Addictions & More
Beyond our core services, we offer addictions counselling, hypnotherapy, nature-based therapy, group recovery programs, and emotional intelligence classes. If you're not sure what you need, the free consultation is a great place to start.

Your first session can feel like a big step. Here's how we make sure every session is built around you.
Your Goals Come First
You know your life better than anyone. Your therapist works with you to set meaningful goals, then builds each session around what matters to you, adjusting the approach as your priorities shift.
You're Not a Diagnosis
We see the whole person, not a set of symptoms. Whatever you're experiencing is a valid part of being human, and our therapists respond with warmth and curiosity, not clinical labels.
Beyond Talking
Insight is valuable, but lasting change often requires something deeper. Our therapists use experiential techniques that help you process emotions in the moment, not just understand them intellectually.
Your Reality, Your Pace
There's no fixed timeline and no pressure to move faster than you're ready for. Your therapist meets you exactly where you are and walks alongside you as things unfold.

Regulated, not self-declared
"Psychotherapist" is a protected title in Ontario. Our team are Registered Psychotherapists, accountable to a College with a complaints process that has nothing to do with us.
See every therapist's registration →Supervised every month
Our therapists meet for clinical supervision every month. It is how the work stays accountable to someone other than the person doing it.
How we work →We show our sources
Where we describe what therapy can do for anxiety, ADHD or trauma, we name the source and link it: Statistics Canada, CAMH, NICE, peer-reviewed trials.
What we help with →Nothing locks you in
No referral needed. No contract, no package to buy. Fees are published up front, $180 for a 55-minute session. If the fit is wrong, say so and we will move you to someone else without asking why.
Fees and coverage →Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy in Thornhill
Cost, coverage, wait times and how sessions actually run.
Absolutely. InnerSight provides secure, PHIPA-compliant video therapy to residents across Thornhill, whether you're near Yonge and Steeles or out in Thornhill Woods. Evening and weekend sessions are available, and since our Vaughan office is only 15 minutes from most parts of Thornhill, you can also come in person whenever you'd like. You're welcome to switch between the two depending on your week.
Not at all. You can book directly through our website or by phone at (905) 553-9507. We start with a free 20-minute consultation to understand what you're looking for, and most people are matched with a therapist and have their first session within the same week.
Registered Psychotherapy is not covered under OHIP. That said, the majority of employer-sponsored benefits plans include psychotherapy coverage, and we offer direct billing through Sun Life, Beneva (formerly SSQ Insurance), and Green Shield Canada to minimize what you pay out of pocket. We also have reduced-fee options for anyone who needs them.
The free consultation is designed to answer exactly that question. We take the time to understand your situation, what you're hoping to work on, and any preferences you have, then recommend a therapist whose background and approach are a strong match. If the fit doesn't feel right after a few sessions, switching therapists within our clinic is straightforward and handled with care.
Research has generally found that for many common concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties, online therapy can be as effective as meeting face to face. What matters most is the quality of the relationship with your therapist. Many Thornhill clients tell us they actually prefer online sessions because they can attend from home without adding another errand to their day.
We do. Our online sessions are available during the day, in the evening, and on weekends, which works well for Thornhill residents who commute to Toronto or have packed family schedules. You can book the times that fit your life.
Our team works with a wide range of concerns: anxiety and panic, depression, relationship challenges, grief and loss, trauma, ADHD, anger management, addictions, parenting difficulties, low confidence, career transitions, and more. If you're unsure whether your situation is something we can help with, the free consultation will give you a clear answer.
Psychotherapists in Ontario are Registered Psychotherapists (RP), regulated by the CRPO. Psychologists hold a doctoral degree and are qualified to perform psychological testing and formal diagnoses. For the therapy itself, both professions deliver equally effective treatment for concerns like anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and trauma. Every psychotherapist at InnerSight is registered with the CRPO.
There's no single answer because everyone's situation is different. Some people feel a noticeable shift after just a handful of sessions. Others working through more layered challenges may continue for several months. Your therapist will regularly check in on how things are going, and you're never locked into a set number of sessions.
Your sessions are private and confidential. Your therapist cannot share anything you discuss with your employer, your family, your doctor, or anyone else unless you provide explicit written consent. The only situations where confidentiality has legal limits are when there is an imminent risk of serious harm or when child abuse or neglect is suspected. Your therapist will explain all of this clearly at your first session.
