Meet Teresa
The same conversation. The same misunderstanding. The same distance between you and the people you care about.
Maybe it is tension in your relationship. Maybe it is conflict within your family, or a quiet sense that you have lost yourself somewhere along the way. These patterns rarely appear overnight. They develop over time, and they can change. Therapy is a chance to understand what is happening beneath the surface and to start building healthier ways of relating to yourself and to other people.
I work with adults, couples, and families dealing with relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting concerns, and major life transitions. Many of my clients arrive emotionally exhausted, or unsure how to move forward. Together we will slow things down and make sense of what is keeping you stuck. From there we can start building relationships that feel better to be in.
Lasting change begins with understanding. Rather than looking only at today’s problems, we will look at the patterns and beliefs that still shape how you think and how you connect with people. As those patterns get clearer, new possibilities open up, in you and in your relationships.
With an individual, a couple, or a whole family, the goal is the same. I want people to move from conflict and distance toward more understanding and trust.
What it’s like to work with me
Every person and every relationship has its own story, so I shape therapy around yours, drawing on approaches that build insight and lead to practical change.
My work may include: Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Informed Therapy, Gottman Method and Attachment-Informed Care.
Together we will make room for honest conversations, and for difficult emotions to be looked at with compassion.
My background
Before becoming a psychotherapist I spent many years in education, supporting children and families through life’s challenges. That taught me that every behaviour has meaning, and that strong relationships are often the foundation for healing and growth.
My clinical work has included supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and complex mental health concerns through the Toronto Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy Community Clinic. That work still shapes my relationship-centred approach.
A little about me
One of my favourite quotes is by Esther Perel:
“The quality of our relationships determines the quality of our lives.”
That belief goes beyond my work as a therapist. Outside of the office I enjoy reading, travelling, and discovering new places and perspectives. They remind me that growth usually starts with curiosity, about ourselves and about the people we love.
Healthy relationships grow through understanding, courage, and connection. You have had the same conversation enough times. I would like to help you have a different one.
